Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar // Night Markets, Star Courts and Desi goodness

GOODREADS // AMAZON // BOOK DEPOSITORY The daughter of a star and a mortal, Sheetal is used to keeping secrets. Pretending to be "normal." But when an accidental flare of her starfire puts her human father in the hospital, Sheetal needs a full star's help to heal him. A star like her mother, who returned to the sky long ago. Sheetal's quest to save her father will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must take the stage as her family's champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens--and win, or risk never returning to Earth at all. This gorgeously imagined YA debut blends shades of Neil Gaiman's Stardust and a breathtaking landscape of Hindu mythology into a radiant contemporary fantasy.   ( A huge thank you to the  HOV Tours  and HarperTeen for the eARC and the opportunity to be a part of this blog tour.  ~When a book sees you~      Yes I am absolutely go...

Top Ten Tuesday # 7: Top 10 New-to-me Authors I've read in 2016

Top ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Follow the link to know more about the meme and join up!
The topic for this Tuesday is Top 10 new-to-me authors I read for the first time in 2016... I'm glad to say I read a lot of new authors this year! I'm gonna share the top 10 new-to-me fantasy and science fiction authors with you. Hope you check the authors and their books out!

I read Jay Kristoff for the first time when I read Nevernight and ABSOLUTELY LOVED the book and his writing! I will soon be picking up Illuminae with really HIGH expectations! ☺

Anna Dressed in Blood was the first Kendare Blake book I read this year as part of a Halloween Read-A-Thon. While I had some small issues with the story, I loved the writing. Three Dark Crowns is an absolute favourite for me despite a couple of flaws.

Yes people I've read S J Mass for the first time this year and yes Throne of Glass is the only book of hers I've read; before you start throwing rotten eggs at me, let me explain. I never pick up a book because of hype. I'm always scared of being disappointed. That's why ToG was on my TBR for a long time... until I met Diana from Book Reviews by Di who convinced me to pick it up and I'm SUPER GLAD she did!! ToG is now a favourite. Will soon be reading the rest of the series :)

I read A Monster Calls upon recommendation by a really amazing Goodreads friend. I absolutely adore the story because it's so beautiful, dark and poignant. Will definitely be checking out his other books.

I received Glimmer, Book one of The Black Swan Files from NetGalley and SIMPLY LOVED IT!! Amazing plot, engaging characters and great writing!! Recently the author provided me with the an unedited ARC of Glisten, Book two of The Black Swan Files to read and review. Glisten too was AMAZING and I'm so glad I discovered such an amazing author. Do check out the books!

Two months ago author Sreejib sent me her first book Aqson Level 1 to read and review and I'm so GLAD she did so! The book is so unique and humorous and I LOVED it! A very different kind of Urban Fantasy that people need to check out.

I read these two book by author C.L. Rozelle just a couple of days back and really loved them! They are a unique dystopian series that I'd recommend for all dystopian lovers. It has a unique plot and such interesting and relatable characters. Her writing is also beautiful and immersive!

This was my first NetGalley read and it was awesome! I absolutely loved the fast paced writing. Anna Kopp writes vivid descriptions that really capture the readers; minds. If you like zombies but are looking for something different about them, check out this book!

I.A. Ashcroft writes with such suspense you can't help but be sucked into the story. Raven Song had me from the start and has such an interesting premise. Will be looking out for the sequel!

When I read the blurb of the book, I was intrigued due to the Indian connect. Dark Things is the author's first book but is so beautifully written and has thses amazing twists. While Dark Things is a standalone novel, I'll be on the lookout for more books by the author.

So have you read these authors? If so, what do you think of them? What's on your Top Ten Tuesday? Comment and leave a link below so I can return the favour!
