Flawed by
Cecelia Ahern
Celestine North lives a perfect life. She's a model daughter and sister, she's well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she's dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.
But then Celestine encounters a situation in which she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found Flawed.
I admit I didn't like Celestine North at first. She annoyed me and I liked Juniper better. Her character development felt unrealistic. After so many years of believing a thing she does what she does? It doesn't seem believable to me. But after a certain point Celestine was the most realistic character I've ever seen. She's brave and scared. She is torn between what she believes and what she was taught to believe and my heart goes out for her. She is the face of the rebellion. Kind of like Katniss but different scenarios, different reasons. There were some things she did and thought that made me wanna say 'Really girl?' But overall, she's a great protagonist.
I loved Carrick. Somehow in the midst of all the crazy people in the book, Carrick stands out. He is as human as it gets. I loved how he is portrayed in the story. Even though he isn't the protagonist, I empathized with him, I understood him.
I DIISLIKE Art Crevan. I HATE Bosco Crevan. Enough said.
I liked the other characters in the story, Celestine's parents, Pia and a couple others. The made the story feel all the more real.
I loved it..but I wasn't prepared for it. It's a Cecelia Ahern novel. I was prepared to shed a few tears; for lost loves, death and such. Tear up I did, more than I thought and for scenarios I wasn't expecting. There were these scenes in the book where I wanted to reach into the pages and comfort people. Cecelia Ahern writes so powerfully than I felt I was in the book, that I was Celestine. Her embarrassment was mine. Her fear was mine. Her hurt, her anger, her stubbornness.. all mine. There is such powerful imagery in the book that I haven't been able to get the images out of my head even now; and I read the book three days ago.
The thing is when I started reading, I wasn't sure I'd like the book but soon I was at this point that i couldn't put it down. The plot is powerful. It's so much more than just perfection. It's about dominance, bullying and compassion. The book deals with being human.
Like i said, the imagery is powerful. It attacks you with spirit. I can confidently say that I was inside the book when everything happened.
- The characters (Even the evil ones. They are who make you sympathize with the protagonist)
- The plot
- The writing
- Celestine at first.
- THE BOOK ENDS IN A CLIFFHANGER
WILL I READ THE SEQUEL ?
OF COURSE! But I have to wait till April 2017?? Truly testing my patience...
I loved the book. I always love books that make me thoughtful, make me question Flawed does that.
