Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar // Night Markets, Star Courts and Desi goodness

GOODREADS // AMAZON // BOOK DEPOSITORY The daughter of a star and a mortal, Sheetal is used to keeping secrets. Pretending to be "normal." But when an accidental flare of her starfire puts her human father in the hospital, Sheetal needs a full star's help to heal him. A star like her mother, who returned to the sky long ago. Sheetal's quest to save her father will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must take the stage as her family's champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens--and win, or risk never returning to Earth at all. This gorgeously imagined YA debut blends shades of Neil Gaiman's Stardust and a breathtaking landscape of Hindu mythology into a radiant contemporary fantasy.   ( A huge thank you to the  HOV Tours  and HarperTeen for the eARC and the opportunity to be a part of this blog tour.  ~When a book sees you~      Yes I am absolutely go...

Top Ten Tuesday # 2 : Scary Books on my TBR

Top ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Follow the link to know more about the meme and join up!
The theme for this Tuesday is Halloween Related Freebie and I've chosen to do 'Scary Books on my TBR'. As I mentioned in my Halloween Read-A-Thon TBR post I've not read much horror novels so I've decided to read at least 10 Scary books by the end of this year! Wish me luck :)

1. Asylum by Madeleine Roux - Do you see the cover? This book looks so creepy! It's part of my Halloween Read-A-Thon TBR list so I hope to read it by the end of this month

2. Anna Dressed in Blood  by Kendare Blake- I nice mix of horror and YA! Yet to read it but it's part of the Read-A-Thon too so hopefully will read this by the end of the month.

3. The Girl with all the Gifts by M.R.Carey - This book was recommended to me by a friend on Goodreads and after reading the blurb, I'm really intrigued! To cap it all off, it's a zombie book!

4. And The Trees Crept In by Dawn Kurtagich - The Title and Cover are scary enough! I saw it in a lot of people's Halloween Read-A-Thon TBR and have decided to give it a try!

5. The Shining by Stephen King - I have two words for you. Stephen King.

6. Let the Right one In by John Ajvide Lindqvist - Because It's a vampire novel; scary vampire novel; WITHOUT sparkly vampires falling in love with human girls.

7. Doctor Sleep by Stephen King - Because it's Stephen King guys and I'm in love with the cover. Also It's the Shining #2 !!

8. The Deviants by C.J.Skuse - Because the Cover people! And the Tagline "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves".

9. Dracula by Bram Stoker - Because I haven't read this book yet! Am pretty sure I'm among the minority who haven't read this book yet!

10. Follow You Home by Mark Edwards - This book has such a creepy, chilling blurb! Reserving it for reading when I've read enough Horror novels. Maybe then it won't be too scary!
