Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar // Night Markets, Star Courts and Desi goodness

GOODREADS // AMAZON // BOOK DEPOSITORY The daughter of a star and a mortal, Sheetal is used to keeping secrets. Pretending to be "normal." But when an accidental flare of her starfire puts her human father in the hospital, Sheetal needs a full star's help to heal him. A star like her mother, who returned to the sky long ago. Sheetal's quest to save her father will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must take the stage as her family's champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens--and win, or risk never returning to Earth at all. This gorgeously imagined YA debut blends shades of Neil Gaiman's Stardust and a breathtaking landscape of Hindu mythology into a radiant contemporary fantasy.   ( A huge thank you to the  HOV Tours  and HarperTeen for the eARC and the opportunity to be a part of this blog tour.  ~When a book sees you~      Yes I am absolutely going to s

Halloween Read-A-Thon : My TBR

Hosted by Lauren of Wonderless Reviews

Hey everyone! This is the first time am doing a read-a-thon and am pretty excited! Also I haven't read any horror books except Goosbumps by R.L.Stine. I think this read-a-thon is going to be a great way for me to explore some horror stories :) Go here for Lauren's original post!

So let's get started!

(Banners by Lauren )

Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children by Ransom Riggs

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of curious photographs. (Read more on Goodreads)
Why this book? Because creepy little girls scare the hell outta me! (Blame Samara from the Ring movies!)

Dark Things by Sukanya Venkatraghavan

Somewhere on Prithvi, a mortal survives a supernatural attack. In the dark Realm of Atala, an evil goddess prepares to do the unspeakable. And a Yakshi finds herself at the heart of another other-worldly storm. (Read more on Goodreads)
Why this book? Because its an Indian Dark Fantasy book and the plot sounds so refreshing!

Flesh and Blood by Patricia Cornwell

Dr. Kay Scarpetta is about to head to Miami for a vacation when she notices seven pennies on a wall behind their home. Is this a kids' game? If so, why are all the coins dated 1981 and so shiny they could be newly minted? (Read more on Goodreads)

Why this book? Because I remembered I read a Kay Scarpetta novel long ago and loved it!

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation. He kills the dead. (Read more on Goodreads)

Why this book? because I've been hearing about it for God knows how long and this is the best time as ever to read it!

Flawed by Cecelia Ahern

Celestine North lives a perfect life. She's a model daughter and sister, she's well liked by her classmates and teachers, and she's dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan. (Read more on Goodreads

Why this book? Well I chose treat 'cause like I said, I've not read much horror before and I don't want to overwhelm myself with too many horror novels! And I recently bought Flawed and am itching to read it!

Asylum by Madeleine Roux

For sixteen-year-old Dan Crawford, New Hampshire College prep is more than a summer program- it's a lifeline. An outcast at his high school, Dan is excited to finally make some friends in his last summer before college. (Read more on Goodreads)

Why this book? The description sounds intriguing that's why!

So these are the books am planning to read people! I sincerely doubt if I'll finish them all but I know for sure it'll be fun and SCARY!
