Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar // Night Markets, Star Courts and Desi goodness

GOODREADS // AMAZON // BOOK DEPOSITORY The daughter of a star and a mortal, Sheetal is used to keeping secrets. Pretending to be "normal." But when an accidental flare of her starfire puts her human father in the hospital, Sheetal needs a full star's help to heal him. A star like her mother, who returned to the sky long ago. Sheetal's quest to save her father will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must take the stage as her family's champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens--and win, or risk never returning to Earth at all. This gorgeously imagined YA debut blends shades of Neil Gaiman's Stardust and a breathtaking landscape of Hindu mythology into a radiant contemporary fantasy.   ( A huge thank you to the  HOV Tours  and HarperTeen for the eARC and the opportunity to be a part of this blog tour.  ~When a book sees you~      Yes I am absolutely going to s

  1. The Diabolic is one I've only recently seen everywhere. Or it seems to be. Someone even said it's been compared to The Hunger Games. Hope you get these, Uma - and as always, thanks bunches for visiting Finding Wonderland. :)

    1. I thought those three were a part of a series? You can read them as standalones? That's great to hear :) I'm reaaaallly excited about Illuminae :)

    2. You can definitely read them as standalones, the only thing that really connects them is the mysterious corporation in the background that runs all these research facilities. But they are completely standalone. I really liked Vitro.

    3. Thank you :) I'm glad I know that! Because I have Kalahari..I was waiting to get the other two before I could start! Now I CAN start :)

  8. Tbh, this is a fantastic list. I wouldn't mind finding any of these under my tree either (except for Stalking Jack the Ripper because I recently bought that one). I've seen Illuminae on a ton of lists this week, and while it wasn't on mine, it probably should have been. I hope Santa leaves you some of these :)

  10. I'd take those books as well. My other half read Illuminae the other month and wasn't impressed. But that was because it's YA. So, I wouldn't take that opinion on board! Haven't read any on that list quite yet. I'm busy making my 2017 list. If it continues to grow, I'll have to add more days to the year.

    1. Yay! Let's hope someone gifts us these books :) Yah i have a lot of friends who aren't fans of YA so I never judge a YA book based on their reviews...Oh YES!! Let's make 2017 500 days long..then I might be able to finish my TBR..maybee... lol :P thanks for stopping by!
